The Sis Code is a movement that informs and empowers young women ages 13-18 to stay safe and to engage in acts of sisterhood. We create a variety of experiences for young women to develop their skills mentally, physically, and emotionally so they can navigate life during and after High School.

We want to inspire young women to enjoy the journey of adolescents and to build healthy connections. We want to disrupt girl drama and encourage sister hood.

Our Mission

  • We serve young women in High School ages 13-18 that are in search of sisterhood and self growth.

  • The Sis Code was created by Courtney Carroll.

The Sis Code was inspired by the experience that 4 young women had at Withrow High School in 2003-2007. Courtney was afforded to have amazing women in her life that guided her to excellence and she was able to create healthy connections with other young ladies her age. Courtney and her friends Ashley, Nina, Shelby were given a code by Shelby's mother (Aunt Beck) to abide by when navigating their teenage experiences. The Sis Code was created to pay homage to these golden rules and pay it forward to each generation. Each of these young ladies attended/graduated from HBCU's and have gone on to create light into the world. One of the goals for The Sis Code is to inspire young women to enjoy the journey of adolescents and to build healthy connections. It's important to enjoy life for what it is right now, with hopes that it all gets better. It indeed did for us.

  • The Sis Code was able to:

*Increase our participants attendance in school by 40%

*Create a safe environment to provide social emotional groups for students weekly.

*80% of our participants were connected to mental health services though our program.

    *Teach conflict resolution skills.

*100% of participants graduated successfully from High School.

*Support and prepare students for college mental, financially, and emotionally for college.

    Priceless accomplishment:

    *Created a sisterhood amongst peers.

“Growing up I never really felt the need to make connections with people or share my feeling with anyone. Entering my eleventh grade year I had absolutely no plans of changing that. However once I joined The Sis Code I came to realize that I needed to grow as a person. The Sis Code helped me realize that’s it’s okay to feel any and all emotions and that it’s okay to share them with people from time to time. Sharing our feelings and experience as well as lifting each other up and sharing once in a lifetime experiences, has brought me and these group of girls that I once deemed as passing by associates into my sisters for life.

We have laughed together and cried together and now thanks to The Sis Code we are bonded for life and prepared for whatever paths we choose to take in life.
